The University of San Diego basketball team, coming off an 81-80 overtime loss at Nevada-Reno Saturday night, continues its six-game road trip tonight at Montana State.

If the Toreros’ first three games are any indication, tonight’s game figures to be close. All three of USD’s starts have been decided by fewer than three points.

The Toreros (2-1) defeated Utah, 60-57, and Boise State, 54-52, before losing to Nevada-Reno. Wolf Pack guard Darryl Owens beat USD with a three-point shot with four seconds remaining.

Montana State finished last in the Big Sky Conference a year ago but surprised everyone by winning the conference tournament and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. The Bobcats were eliminated by St. John’s in the first round.

Montana State’s 14-17 record last season included a 77-63 loss to USD in San Diego. The Bobcats return three starters, including 6-foot 4-inch senior forward Kral Ferch, who averaged 16.1 points a game a year ago.
