Miami of Ohio, San Jose State Play in Cal Bowl
San Jose State’s ability to contain Miami of Ohio quarterback Terry Morris could be the determining factor in today’s California Bowl game (ESPN, 2:30 p.m.).
Morris, Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, has set 11 school passing records in just two seasons with the Redskins. The 6-foot 1-inch, 194-pound senior completed 193 of 308 passes for 2,365 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while leading Miami to an 8-3 record in 1986.
Morris, who has been sacked only 4 times this season, will have to contend with Spartan linebacker Sam Kennedy, who has 9 of his team’s 50 sacks. The Spartans have intercepted 20 passes, with K.C. Clark getting 6 and John King 5.
