Orange County Community College Basketball : Smalls Gets 27 as Saddleback Beats Imperial Valley
Vincent Smalls, who scored a game-high 27 points, scored with two seconds remaining to lift Saddleback College to a 69-68 victory over Imperial Valley in the first round of the Riverside Community College Holiday Basketball Tournament at Riverside.
Mike Minier and Tom Desiano each added 10 points for the Gauchos (8-3). Tyrone Kingwood scored 23 and Oddis Knox added 15 for the Arabs (5-5). Saddleback plays Cerro Coso Thursday at 3 p.m. in the second round of the 16-team tournament.
In women’s action:
Golden West 73, Orange Coast 57--April Marion scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Karen Chase added 15 points to lead the Rustlers (10-0) at Golden West. Karen Rindone scored 16 points for Orange Coast (7-6).
