A man killed by an armed robber who attempted to hold up a Security Pacific National Bank branch has been identified as Daniel Mierswa, 30, of Los Angeles, police said. Mierswa was one of two men at an automatic teller machine in front of the bank at 6400 Wilshire Blvd. Friday when the bandit fled the building, pursued by an unidentified bank employee, Police Lt. Bruce Meyer said. The robber apparently panicked when employees recognized that he planned to hold up the bank, police said, and fled. Mierswa and the other man, whose identity has not been released, pursued the armed man two blocks to the 700 block of McCarthy Vista where they confronted him, police said. The suspected robber, who remains at large, then pulled a handgun and fatally wounded Mierswa, Meyer said.
