For Readers and Writers, Here’s a Year of Best : Spring Training

Share

I wait until about 6 p.m., then I jump in my car and head for the crowded freeway. I drive until I get to a busy off-ramp. After a long wait, I’m on a surface street and looking for a crowded parking lot at a shopping center. After driving around the parking lot for 15 minutes, I finally find a spot to park. I then walk about a half a mile to a hot dog stand and find a place to sit down. After I finish eating, I stand up and sing the national anthem, then I scream my lungs out.

You probably think I am crazy. Not really, I’m only in spring training for the baseball season. Next week, my program includes getting showered with beer.
