A San Diego man was killed Friday evening when the vehicle in which he was being towed overturned on westbound Interstate 8 west of College Avenue, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
Derrick (Tony) William Tarver, 22, of the 3400 block of Marlborough Avenue, died at Sharp Memorial Hospital about an hour after the 6:35 p.m. accident.
The vehicle towing Tarver was traveling at about 50 m.p.h. in the far right lane when the car Tarver was in started to swerve, the spokeswoman said. It went out of control and landed on its top, pinning Tarver inside until emergency equipment arrived.
The driver of the towing vehicle was not injured, the spokeswoman said.
