The Pacific 10 : Oregon Wins on 3-Point Basket in Overtime, 55-54
David Girley sank a 22-foot three-point shot with seven seconds remaining in overtime Saturday to give Oregon a 55-54 Pacific 10 Conference basketball victory over Arizona.
The Ducks, 8-5 overall and 2-2 in the Pac-10, rallied from a nine-point deficit late in the second half to force the extra session.
Arizona, which dropped to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the Pac-10, led, 27-20, at halftime and had a 41-32 advantage when freshman Jud Buechler made a three-point basket with 6:25 left in regulation.
But Rick Osborn triggered an Oregon rally as the Ducks came back to tie the score at 45-45 on Sven Meyer’s 10-foot shot with less than three minutes to play.
Craig McMillan’s 15-footer gave Arizona a 47-45 lead with 1:10 remaining, but Anthony Taylor sank a 17-foot jumper with 45 seconds left to force the overtime.
Oregon’s Anthony Taylor and Arizona’s Tom Tolbert each scored 20 points.
