A 62-year-old man who was walking across a Van Nuys street was struck and killed Monday by a car attempting a turn, police said.

Although police are still investigating the incident, they consider it an accident and do not expect to seek charges against the driver of the car, Officer John Baby said.

The name of the victim, a Van Nuys resident, was being withheld pending notification of relatives, Baby said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, at Van Nuys Boulevard and Sylvan Street, he said.
