Orange County College Basketball : SCC Balance Pays Off in Win
Southern California College, with five players scoring in double figures, beat Heritage, 87-66, in a nonconference game at Costa Mesa for its sixth straight victory.
Mike Lightfoot scored 17 points, Jon Haar 13, and Rob Lucas, Jeff Stephens and Randy Wynne had 11 each for Southern California (10-3).
In the Whittier College women’s tournament:
Southern California College 83, Wheaton 74--Lisa Terry scored 24 points, had 6 assists and a school-record 9 steals to lead SCC in the first-round game.
Terry, a senior guard, was 10 of 19 from the field and 4 of 8 on free throws.
Senior center Dolores Effinger scored 21 points for the Vanguards (6-8) and had a school-record 19 rebounds. Southern California shot 50% (36-72) from the floor.
Southern California advances to the final at 4 today against Whittier.
In the Western Christian Athletic Assn:
Southwestern Bible 99, Pacific Christian 70--Despite 22 points from Burton Lalk, the Deacons (9-9) lost to the Eagles at Cal State Fullerton.
