The Federal Bureau of Investigation Tuesday obtained an arrest warrant for a Canoga Park man wanted in connection with the embezzlement of $600,000 from Valley State Bank in Encino.

Daniel Ryan Hamilton, 24, was named in an arrest warrant issued by S. magistrate in Los Angeles. Hamilton, a data processing clerk at the bank, engineered the theft through his work on bank computers, said FBI spokesman Jim Neilson.

The bank reported the $600,000 theft in its precious metals division last week. Bank officials have said that the theft was discovered Dec. 30 and that Hamilton did not return to work.

Neilson said Hamilton, working on the computer, directed that bank funds be transferred from Brinks Inc. in Los Angeles, a money storage company, to a firm known as Wilshire Investments in Flushing, N.Y. Hamilton then collected the money transferred to New York, Neilson said.

The investigation revealed that the Flushing location was a private residence, Neilson said.
