A party host was arrested and accused of shooting an uninvited guest in the chest after he refused to leave, Anaheim police said Monday.

Robert Charles Taylor Jr., 19, of Anaheim allegedly shot Billie Evans, 22, of Huntington Beach in the chest with a .22-caliber rifle Saturday night after Evans refused to leave Taylor’s apartment in the 2900 block of West Lincoln Avenue, Police Lt. Bill Wright said.

“Taylor invited only personal friends and Evans wasn’t one of them,” Wright said, adding that police did not know whether the two men knew each other.

Wright said that after arguing with Evans about leaving, Taylor went into his bedroom, got the rifle, then fired at him. Wright said Evans ran from the apartment, while Taylor called the police to report the incident. Evans, who had run into a nearby pizza parlor, also called police to report Taylor.

Evans was treated by paramedics at the restaurant, then taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, Wright said.

Taylor was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and was being held at the Anaheim City Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
