Middlebrooks Paces Pepperdine to Win
Junior forward Levy Middlebrooks scored a career-high 24 points and had 12 rebounds Tuesday night to lead Pepperdine to a 75-72 victory over Chicago State in a nonconference game at Malibu.
Pepperdine opened a 70-60 lead on two free throws by Middlebrooks with 3:24 remaining before Chicago State rallied to pull within 71-68 on Tyrone Dowd’s 18-foot jumper with one minute left.
Pepperdine’s Ed Allen made two free throws with 37 seconds left before Willie James scored on a rebound shots eight seconds later to pull the Cougars within three again.
Forward Eric White, who finished with 18 points, made two free throws with 24 seconds to play to clinch the victory for the Waves (6-11).
