Garza Knocked Out in Sixth by Thigpen
Darrell Thigpen of St. Louis knocked out Jaime Garza of San Fernando in the sixth round of a scheduled 10-round featherweight bout Monday night at the Irvine Marriott Hotel.
Thigpen took control of the bout in the fifth round and floored Garza for third time in the fight in the sixth. Garza got up, but Thigpen knocked him down again, and referee Vince Delgado stopped the fight.
The victory improved Thigpen’s record to 23-4 with 19 knockouts. Garza lost for the second time in 46 professional fights.
