Man Held in Attack on Guard: An unemployed mechanic was arrested after allegedly trying to stab a security guard who had detained him on suspicion of shoplifting at the Westminster Mall, police said Tuesday. Dennis J. James, 32, of Westminster was booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, petty theft and shoplifting, Westminster Police Sgt. Don Kerr said Tuesday. Kerr said James was apprehended Monday night in a Huntington Beach neighborhood near the mall by a Huntington Beach police officer and his police dog.
