Santa Ana : Police Seek Hit-and-Run Driver in Fatal Collision

Share

Police were still searching Thursday for a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene of a fatal accident Wednesday night and then forced a motorcyclist to drive him home.

Lloyd Rice, 28, of Santa Ana, who also was riding a motorcycle, died of massive head injuries at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana a short time after the 9:30 p.m. accident. Both of Rice’s legs were crushed in the collision, said police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas.

The hit-and-run driver, traveling northbound on Cedar Street in a red Chrysler Cordoba, failed to yield the right of way to Rice, who was traveling east on Edinger Avenue, Thomas said. She said Rice broadsided the car.

The driver of the Chrysler fled the scene but abandoned his car in the 1500 block of South Kilson Drive, Thomas said. There, Thomas said, “he forced a motorcyclist to stop” and ordered the motorcyclist to take him to an address in Santa Ana.
