The PCAA
Cal State Fullerton’s basketball team will try to continue its climb out of the cellar of the PCAA tonight in Titan Gym, against a Fresno State team that’s in danger of being buried there.
Fresno State has lost four straight games and has been waging an unsuccessful search for consistent scoring most of the season. The Bulldogs, 2-7 in PCAA play, 7-13 overall, are last in the conference in scoring offense with an average of 58.4 points a game. Their 106-58 loss at Nevada Las Vegas Monday night was the worst in the school’s history.
Fullerton (2-6, 9-8) snapped a six-game losing streak with a 59-56 victory over the University of the Pacific Thursday night. The win gave Fullerton Coach George McQuarn cause for optimism for the first time in weeks.
“None of us knows why we had the problems we did,” McQuarn said. “Now, let’s see if we can make something positive happen. I told the kids we’re gonna win 10 of our last 11 games. That’s our goal.”
