The parents of a 4-year-old boy kidnaped at gunpoint along with his father last week pleaded for the child’s release at a press conference held in front of their South San Diego home Tuesday.
Armida Sanchez and her husband, Francisco, who was released by his captors early Thursday morning, said the past week have been extremely traumatic for them as they wait for word from their son, also named Francisco.
“We’re just going crazy,” Armida Sanchez said as she held back tears. “It’s just been hell.”
On Feb 3, three masked gunmen stormed the Sanchez’s home, in the 1900 block of Dunning Circle at 6:30 a.m. and took the boy and his 23-year-old father. The gunmen ransacked the house after tying up the Tijuana cabdriver, his wife, son and their 3-year-old daughter.
The elder Sanchez told of hearing his son cry out to him “Daddy! Daddy!” during the ordeal but maintained that he never spoke with his captors.
Sanchez told reporters he had no idea who the kidnapers were and an FBI agent said he would not comment on the motive for the mysterious kidnaping.
“It’s just not appropriate to talk about that at this time,” agent Tom Hughes said.
