Chae-Ho Chung’s leadoff double in the eighth inning spoiled Moorpark pitcher Jon DeGennaro’s bid for a perfect game and propelled Valley College to a 3-1 come-from-behind nonconference victory Thursday at Valley.

Chung later scored on a wild pitch as Valley (2-1) scored all of its runs in the inning. After an error and a walk, freshman Marc Sallin doubled home the final two runs.

DeGennaro, from Agoura High, allowed two hits and one walk and struck out four in seven-plus innings. Moorpark, which tagged Valley right-hander Dave Bogacz for eight hits, scored its run in the first inning on two doubles. Moorpark left 10 runners on base, nine in scoring position.
