Veteran Palm Springs Mayor Frank Bogert, 77, said he might change his mind and seek reelection next year because of the declared candidacy of Sonny Bono, the entertainer who now has a restaurant in town. Bono, 52, opened his campaign by declaring that his warning of an impending student riot last Easter week went unheeded and that Bogert has been an ineffective mayor. Bogert replied, “Sonny’s a nice little guy, but he doesn’t know any more about running a city than the man in the moon.”
