The search for a skier missing for more than a week in the high Sierra of Sequoia National Park was halted by a new snowstorm. Robert Simmons, 32, of Reedley, apparently was trapped by an earlier storm that swept through the mountains Feb. 12-13, park rangers said. Simmons had begun a cross-country ski trip to the headwaters of the Kings, Kaweah and Kern rivers Feb. 11. A search began after Simmons failed to return on schedule Feb. 15, but no sign of him has been found. Park spokesman Marv Jensen said search teams using dogs will not be able to get out until midweek or later because of the new snow.
