Man Kills Himself,2 Others in Dispute

An 87-year-old man shot himself to death at his South-Central Los Angeles home Saturday, after fatally shooting his stepdaughter and a neighbor woman and wounding another woman during a family dispute, police reported.

Lt. Charles Massey said the man, who was not immediately identified, armed himself with a revolver during an argument with his wife, who was packing to leave him with the help of her daughter.

The wife fled, unharmed, from the house in the 100 block of 41st Place, Massey said, and two shots were heard inside the house before her husband emerged a few minutes later and opened fire at random.

A neighbor, woman was struck and killed by one of the bullets, and another woman was wounded. Police arrived to find the man’s stepdaughter unconscious from bullet wounds inside the house, and the man’s body in the alley with the revolver by his side.

The stepdaughter, died a few hours later, after surgery at California Hospital Medical Center. The wounded neighbor was later reported in stable condition.
