Rites Scheduled for Reporter Bill Farr
Military and memorial services will be held Saturday for veteran newspaper reporter Bill Farr, it was reported Monday.
Military ceremonies will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery in West Los Angeles, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 540 S. Commonwealth Ave.
Farr, 52, who was a reporter for the Los Angeles Times at the time of his death Thursday, went to jail for 46 days in 1972 rather than reveal the sources of a story he wrote during the Charles Manson murder trial. He had been battling pancreatic cancer for the last 20 months.
