Paul Cummings and Aurora Cunha of Portugal were the winners in the $17,000 Bank of Boston Half Marathon at New Bedford, Mass.

Cummings, 33, of Orem, Utah, finished first among the men in 1 hour 2 minutes 32 seconds. Geoff Smith of Great Britain was second in 1:03:07 and Bruce Bickford of Wellesley, Mass., was four seconds back in third.

Cunha ran 1:12:05 to break the women’s course record of 1:13:22, set last year by West German Charlotte Teske. Sabrina Stern of Tempe, Ariz., was second in 1:13:29, and Cindi Girard-Klein of Richmond, N.Y., was third in 1:14.01. Olympic Marathon champion Joan Benoit-Samuelson of Freeport, Maine, finished seventh in 1:18:12.
