Van Nuys Fire Consumes $1 Million in Cosmetics
Cosmetics worth an estimated $1 million were lost in a warehouse fire Saturday in Van Nuys, the Los Angeles City Fire Department reported.
The cause of the 10:20 a.m. fire at 7443 Varna St. was under investigation, fire spokesman Gil Espinoza said. No injuries were reported.
The fire burned through the roof of the building, he said.
The warehouse had been jampacked with cosmetics, including nail-polish remover and other flammable items that fed the hourlong fire, Espinoza said.
Damage to the structure was estimated at $100,000, he said.
