THE AL CAMPANIS INCIDENT : Scully Airs Dodger Apology but Nothing Else
Al Campanis’ comments about blacks in baseball on a nationally televised interview Monday night were not mentioned on Channel 11’s telecast of Tuesday night’s Dodger-Astro game. Vin Scully, who called the game with partners Jerry Doggett and Ross Porter, said Wednesday that the prepared statement of apologies from Campanis and owner Peter O’Malley were aired. The incident was not mentioned again.
Scully also said that he reported Campanis’ firing on Wednesday’s radio broadcast.
He declined to comment on Campanis’ dismissal.
