Aztecs Rely on Erb and Parry to Lead Doubleheader Sweep
San Diego State pitcher Mike Erb threw a one-hitter and struck out nine in the opener, and Bob Parry had a school record-tying five stolen bases in the second game as the Aztecs swept a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader from Colorado State at Smith Field Tuesday night.
SDSU (8-4, 26-18-1) won the first game, 3-0. The only hit allowed by Erb was a double by Erik Peterson in the fourth inning of the seven-inning game. Billy Miller hit a two-run homer for the Aztecs in the third.
In the second game, a 5-3 Aztec victory--their fourth straight against Colorado State (0-11, 11-18)--Parry was 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Matt Haar picked up his fifth save in relief.
