ROCK, POP ACTS BOOKED FOR IRVINE

Bon Jovi will play Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre for three nights in June, and Crosby, Stills & Nash will return to the outdoor theater in August, highlighting the facility’s 1987 concert season.

Other performers in the list of 20 concerts announced this week are Donna Summer, Willie Nelson and Echo & the Bunnymen.

The 15,000-capacity amphitheater opened last weekend with a three-night stand by the Grateful Dead, and Stryper headlines there on Saturday. Going to the facility in May are Iron Maiden (May 2), Billy Idol (May 9), Reba McEntire (May 10), Deep Purple (May 22) and Kenny Rogers (May 24). Tickets for these shows are currently on sale.

Bon Jovi will play Irvine Meadows on June 20-22, but a date when tickets will be available has not been announced. Tickets will go on sale Sunday or Monday for most of the following shows: Engelbert Humperdinck (June 28), Harry Belafonte (July 12), Crosby, Stills & Nash (Aug. 8), Jimmy Buffett (Aug. 16), the Orange County Pacific Symphony (Aug. 20-21), Tony Bennett (Aug. 22), Donna Summer (Aug. 29), Echo & the Bunnymen, New Order and Gene Loves Jezebel (Sept. 12), Peter, Paul & Mary (Sept. 20) and George Benson (Sept. 24). Willie Nelson’s concert is expected to be on or near July 4.
