USIU’s Maritz Ties for Individual Title
United States International University’s Laurette Maritz shot the only sub-par round of the Southern Intercollegiate women’s golf championships to tie Tulsa’s Melissa McNamara for the individual title Sunday at Athens, Georgia.
Maritz shot a one-under 73 despite three double bogeys. That followed a 78 Saturday that had dropped her into fourth place.
Alabama won the team title with a 54-hole total of 919, and South Carolina was second at 927. Furman finished third with a 944, and USIU was seventh at 952.
