The NCAA has launched an investigation of the West Texas State University basketball program to look into reports of free airline tickets and cash inducements made to former players, school officials said.
The inquiry initially began as a probe into telephone credit-card abuse by West Texas State athletes, but has intensified since an NCAA investigator made two trips to the Canyon, Tex., campus, Athletic Director Bruce Grimes said.
