The fifth of eight races in the Off-Road Championship Gran Prix series will be run tonight starting at 6:30 at the Rose Bowl on the “Chunk of the Baja” that Mickey Thompson has created by hauling in 400 truckloads of earth, clay and decomposed granite.

Drivers will be competing for championship points in Grand National Sport Trucks, Unlimited Super 1600 single seaters, the Ultra-Stocks, 4-Wheel ATVs and the Odysseys. Team Toyota will be represented by 1986 champion Steve Millen, Ivan (Iron Man) Stewart and Frank Arciero Jr. Other factory teams will include Nissan, Mazda, Jeep-Comanche, Suzuki, Honda, Dodge and Chevrolet.

A pro 250cc motocross class will also be featured.

The first race of this series last January drew a record 64,000 to Anaheim Stadium. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. There will be a “Meet the Drivers” picture and autograph session so that fans can get up close to both the drivers and the vehicles at 5 p.m. on the Rose Bowl track.
