A tip from a convicted cocaine dealer that some Phoenix Suns players were allegedly obtaining drugs from his sales to restaurant and bar employees was not immediately followed up because federal and state agents had a “more important” case to pursue, the Arizona Republic reported.

The newspaper reported that John Gordon Schauwe gave authorities the tip more than six months before an investigation into alleged drug use by the players started.
