Hayward Municipal Judge Dallas Edgar filed an assault complaint against fellow Judge Robert Fairwell after, Edgar said, Fairwell appeared ready to attack him during a hallway argument. Edgar said he ran into a crowded courtroom to escape. The two have feuded since the early 1970s, when Edgar supported a judge who Fairwell wanted ousted. Last year, Fairwell refused to accept a local “Judge of the Year” award because Edgar was a previous winner. He called Edgar a “dodo.” The Alameda County district attorney is to decide whether Fairwell will be prosecuted for the alleged assault.
