Anaheim : 1 of 2 Men Killed in Collision Identified
Authorities Friday identified one of two men killed in a high-speed collision late Thursday on the Riverside Freeway near Lakeview Avenue.
Vincent Allen Guzman, 21, of Anaheim was killed when the car he was driving went out of control at a “high rate of speed” on the westbound side of the freeway, crossed the center divider and collided head-on with another car.
Guzman’s passenger was killed when he was ejected from the car, said Caren Juelke, the Highway Patrol investigating officer. The passenger’s identity was being withheld until relatives could be notified, a coroner’s office spokesman said Friday.
Arthur Hernandez, 18, of La Habra, the driver of the second car, suffered a compound fracture of his right leg and a concussion, a CHP spokesman said. Hernandez’s passenger, Brandy Van Winkle, 14, of Moreno Valley, suffered cuts on his face.
They were transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where Hernandez was reported in good condition and Van Winkle was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Eastbound freeway traffic was narrowed to two lanes for about two hours while the wreckage was cleared.
