USIU’s Laurette Maritz 14th in NCAA Golf
Arizona State’s Danielle Ammaccapani shot a one-over-par 73 Friday to maintain her lead in the NCAA women’s golf championship tournament at Albuquerque, N.M., with a combined score of 217 after three rounds.
Anne Jones of San Jose State and Caroline Keggi of New Mexico both shot 72 to finish the day at 218, one stroke behind Ammaccapani, the 1985 NCAA champion.
Laurette Maritz of United States International University shot 74, placing her 14th among the tournament’s 102 golfers with a total score of 222. USIU’s Alison Shapcott and Tupito Walker are tied for 62nd with 231, with teammate Helen Alfredsson one stroke behind them.
USIU now has a team score of 915, placing it 14th among 17 teams, 26 strokes behind the University of Miami, the tournament’s leading team.
