San Diego
A San Diego man died Sunday morning from injuries suffered in a Saturday traffic accident, according to the San Diego County coroner’s office.
Coroner’s Deputy George Dickason said Rodney Johnson, 20, who lived on Alderley Street in Southeast San Diego, died in the intensive care unit at Paradise Valley Hospital at 8:45 a.m.
The accident occurred Saturday when Phillip Lawton, the driver of the car Johnson was riding in, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another car head-on while eastbound in the 4900 block of Market Street.
Lawton’s car overturned and Johnson was pinned beneath the vehicle, Dickason said. Lawton, 22, of San Diego, was taken to Kaiser Hospital with minor injuries.
Geraldine Lindsey, 33, the driver of the other car, was taken to Mercy Hospital with moderate injuries. A Mercy spokeswoman said Sunday that Lindsey was in fair condition.
