Shoemaker Rides Very Subtle to Win in Railbird
Very Subtle, with Bill Shoemaker aboard, was bumped in the initial strides but moved up to prompt the pace and won by 5 1/2 lengths Saturday in the $79,500 Railbird Stakes at Hollywood Park.
Joey The Trip, ridden by Rafael Meza, finished second, a length in front of Sacahuista, ridden by Gary Stevens, in the field of four 3-year-old fillies.
Very Subtle, which ran 7 furlongs in 1:22 3/5, is trained by Mel Stute and has earned $622,655 in her 10-race career.
Very Subtle paid $3.20 and $2.80.
