Friendly rivals and teammates, Montclair Prep’s Jeff Light and Frank Charles each hit 10 home runs this season to share the school record. Light’s 18 career home runs is another school record. Charles, who has 17 home runs, had a school-record 52 runs batted in this season. Pitcher Scott Hauser (17-0) set school records for longest winning streak (17 games) and career winning percentage (1.000). All three are seniors.

Baseball: Simi Valley shortstop Greg Gerber singled in his last at-bat to set a school single-season record for batting average. Gerber was 45 for 92 (.489), breaking the record of Corey Aurand, who was 44 for 92 (.478) in 1986. . . . Providence right-hander Jeff Cirillo finished with a 10-3 record, a 1.75 earned-run average, 142 strikeouts and 51 walks in 88 innings. Cirillo, a senior, batted .553 with 56 RBIs, which places him in a second-place tie with Chris Donnels--formerly of South Torrance--on the Southern Section single-season RBI list.

Softball: Simi Valley’s Denise Swank set a school record for batting (20 for 41, .488), but she was just as valuable in other areas. Swank, a sophomore second baseman, had just one error and a .977 fielding percentage. She struck out only twice and finished with a .638 on-base percentage in Marmonte League play. She also scored 13 runs to lead the league, was 5 for 5 in steals and hit safely in 11 of 12 games. Swank was 3-0 with an 0.85 ERA as a pitcher.
