Long Beach : Fire Guts Restaurant

Share

A suspected arson fire has caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to Francois’ Manhattan, a well-known Long Beach restaurant.

Although no injuries were reported, the early morning blaze charred furniture, walls and fixtures and destroyed a crystal chandelier.

The restaurant, on 4th Street at Cherry Avenue, has been a Long Beach landmark since the 1940s. Telephone calls to the restaurant this week were answered by a tape-recorded message saying it would be closed for two to three months and that remodeling would begin Monday.
