Buena Park : Hearing to Focus on Beach Blvd. Traffic Flow

Share

Caltrans and the county Transportation Commission have scheduled a June 23 public hearing on proposals for getting traffic flowing on Beach Boulevard.

The proposals include a widening project, parking restrictions, timed traffic signals, turning lanes and bus turn-outs on the stretch between Lincoln Avenue and the Riverside Freeway. The hearing is to start at 7 p.m. at the Buena Park Senior Center, 8150 Knott Ave., after an hourlong open house.

The two-mile stretch carries about 55,000 cars a day, according to Lisa Mills, highway and transit manager for the Transportation Commission, and should be handling no more than 45,000.

The hearing will probably be the only chance for the public to respond on the issue before the proposals are submitted to the state Transportation Commission and Caltrans in August or September, according to Deborah Harmon, associate environmental planner for Caltrans.
