Venice High School baseball players Ernie Soto, Roger Serafin and Lucio Chaidez, all seniors, were named to the All-Los Angeles City 3-A team selected by the First Interstate Bank-Amateur Athletic Foundation board of athletics.

Outfielder Soto batted .380, infielder Serafin hit .390 and pitcher Chaidez had an 8-0 record with an earned run average of 3.30. After winning three consecutive 3-A City titles, Coach Jeff Shimizu's Venice squad lost to Bell in the 3-A finals this season.

Senior first baseman Peter McKellar, who hit .377 for Santa Monica High's Bay League champions was a third-team selection by the board on the All-CIF Southern Section 4-A team.

Jim Naylor shot a 70, his first under-par round at Rancho Park Golf Course, but that isn't what was notable. His play included his first hole in one (on the 206-yard 12th hole), and he finished with an eagle on the 17th hole and a birdie on the 18th.

Others who shot aces at Los Angeles Municipal courses included Sandor Israel of West Los Angeles at Penmar, Jim Kavanagh of San Pedro at Rancho and Carl Bradshaw, Russell Markus and Bryan Cupp, all of West Los Angeles, at Rancho's nine-hole course.

Stan Funk shot a 32 to win the A flight at the Penmar Men's Golf Club's June tournament. Other flight winners and their gross scores for nine holes were Howard Pederson, B, 37; Bill Hannan, C, 36, and Herb Cohn, D, 41.
