4 County Players Reach Racquetball Semifinals

Four San Diego County players advanced to today’s semifinals of the Coors Light/Marty Hogan racquetball tournament at the Escondido Athletic Club.
The three-year-old tournament features amateur players in 14 divisions for men and women.
In the men’s open division Saturday, Bill Sparks of San Diego defeated Mike Martinez, 15-13, 15-2, in the best-of-three competition. Scott Cassidy of San Diego beat Mark Duplessie of Los Angeles, 15-10, 15-10. Cassidy and Sparks will meet today at 11 a.m.
Escondido’s Steve Pell defeated Art Rios of Encinitas, 15-4, 15-9. Pell will play Leo Gurnoe of Encinitas--who advanced with a bye Saturday--today at 11 a.m.
