A 13-year-old boy was killed when he was struck and apparently dragged underneath by a stock car that careened out of control into the pit area at the Twin Cities Racetrack in Vernon, Ind., authorities said Sunday.
Toby Burton of Edinburgh, Ind., was pronounced dead about 11:45 p.m. (EDT) Saturday at a hospital in neighboring North Vernon.
The accident happened during the next-to-last lap of the night’s featured race. A car driven by Danny Redding of North Vernon was struck from behind by another car and went out of control.
