Cook’s No-Hitter Stops Woodland Hills

Jordan Cook, an All-City selection at Birmingham High in 1986, pitched a no-hitter Tuesday as Encino-Tarzana defeated Woodland Hills, 6-0, in a American Legion District 20 Western Division game at Birmingham.
Cook (4-1) struck out 10 and walked seven. He was backed by seven hits, including two home runs by Ernie Perez.
Cook, who played at College of the Canyons last season, will attend the University of San Diego in the fall.
On Tuesday, he was a slightly different pitcher than the one Encino-Tarzana Coach Wayne Sink remembered from high school.
“The basic thing is he has learned to pitch,” Sink said. “He has become a complete, intelligent pitcher. He can change speeds and still buzz the fastball by them.”
Encino-Tarzana and Woodland Hills are both 10-2.
