Officers Arrest 250 Suspected of Drunk Driving

Los Angeles police and California Highway Patrol officers arrested more than 250 drunk driving suspects during a combined task force operation in a 60-square-mile area of South Los Angeles.

Police and CHP officers assigned to the joint task force made 120 arrests Friday night, and police working without the CHP arrested 95 suspected drunk drivers between 7:15 p.m. Saturday and 3:15 a.m. Sunday.

CHP officers arrested another 44 suspected drunk drivers between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 4 a.m. Sunday while patroling four freeways in the San Fernando Valley.

CHP Sgt. Perry Selph said the the crackdown was cut short by an hour both nights because booking facilities were filled to capacity.
