A woman bystander was killed by a stray shot Friday afternoon when two men in a pickup truck chased a car through Compton, killing an 18-year-old passenger in the car and critically wounding its juvenile driver.

Compton Police Lt. Jim Fette said the incident appeared to be “gang-related.”

Fette said the men did not abandon the pursuit until the driver of the other vehicle headed for the Compton Police Station.

He said the attackers began chasing the car south on Culver Avenue from Rosecrans Avenue about 2:40 p.m. In the 300 block of North Culver, Fette said, Rosalina Cisneros, 28, was killed as she was getting out of her car.

At Compton Boulevard, the victims’ car turned into the Compton Civic Center and rolled to a stop in front of the police station. As the attackers fled, officers found the wounded 17-year-old boy behind the wheel and an 18-year-old companion dead in the rear seat. The latter was identified as Nathaniel Jones of Los Angeles.

A second passenger in the victims’ car, also a juvenile, was unharmed.
