Orange County College Roundup : Titan Women Lose to Long Beach in Volleyball
Tara Cross had 25 kills to lead the Cal State Long Beach women’s volleyball team to a 15-10, 15-7, 15-11 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. victory over Cal State Fullerton Tuesday in Titan Gym.
Fullerton (0-3, 7-7) was led by sophomore Susan Herman, who had 12 kills, and senior Alisa DeNapoli, who had 7 kills.
In other women’s volleyball:
Chapman 3, La Verne 0--Janet Jenson had 12 kills to lead the Panthers (1-6) to a 15-10, 15-5, 15-8 nonconference victory at Chapman. Michelle Lazorek had 9 kills for the Panthers (1-6) and Dana Beardsly had 7 kills and 22 assists.
La Verne’s Tricia Wright led the Leopards (4-6) with five kills.
Southern California College 1, Loyola Marymount 1--SCC (2-5-1) tied the scored at 1-1, late in the second half on a goal by Bill Simpson. Loyola (2-3-2) had taken the lead early in the first half on a goal by Steve Burke. Loyola goalie Judd Bugust had 12 saves.
Christ College Irvine 2, USC (club) 1--Rodney Nelson, a freshman, scored two goals to lead the Crusaders to the nonconference victory at Irvine. Bob Pelletier had an assist on one of Nelson’s goals. Goalie Jeff Riedman had 11 saves for Christ College (3-2).
