RED CROSS CENTERS

The American Red Cross has set up eight emergency centers in five cities that will provide food and shelter for people left homeless by the earthquake, Red Cross officials said. They are:

Whittier: Community Center, 7630 S. Washington Ave.

Alhambra: Joslyn Center,200 N. Chapel St.

Montebello: Schurr High School, 840 Wilcox Ave.

Los Angeles: Hollywood High School, 1521 N. Highland Ave.

Los Angeles: Garfield High School, 5101 East 6th St.

Los Angeles: Roosevelt High School, 456 S. Matthews St.

Los Angeles: Belmont High School, 1572 West 2nd St.

Bell: Bell High School, 4328 Bell Ave.

The Red Cross also set up an earthquake crisis hot line, (213) 739-4543, with personnel answering questions in Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.
