Officials of the minor league Syracuse Chiefs said Doug Ault won’t return as the baseball team’s manager.

He will instead swap places with Bob Bailor, manager of the Toronto Blue Jays minor league team in Florida, team officials said Wednesday.

Ault, who managed the International League Chiefs for the past three seasons, will be assigned to manage the Toronto Blue Jays’ Class A Florida State League team in Dunedin, Fla.

The moves became official when Bobby Mattick, Toronto’s vice president for baseball operations, informed Chiefs General Manager Tex Simone and director of operations John Simone.

“We saw Mr. Mattick ... and he told us it was true,” John Simone said.

Ault, 36, managed the Chiefs to an IL pennant in 1985 and was named the league’s Manager of the Year. His clubs finished fifth in 1986 and sixth this past season.

Bailor, 36, managed Dunedin to a 76-64 record last summer. He played in Rochester for four seasons and in the major leagues for Toronto, Baltimore, Los Angeles and the New York Mets.
