Clippers Sign Nine Players to Contracts
The Clippers announced the signing of five draft choices and four free agents Thursday.
The draftees who signed were forwards Norris Coleman, Chad Kessler and Henry Carr, guard Tim McCalister, and center Martin Nesley.
The free agents who signed were centers Jim Lampley and Steve Ladesma, and forwards Tod Murphy and David Thirdkill.
The nine players will report today when the Clippers open training camp under new Coach Gene Shue at Cal Poly Pomona.
Meanwhile, Clipper President Alan Rothenberg said the club has reached “essential terms and agreement” with forward Ken Norman of Illinois, who was the 19th player drafted this year. “We hope to have him signed Friday and in camp Saturday.”
Rothenberg added that the Clippers are closing in on signing forward-center Joe Wolf of North Carolina. However, he said they’re still far apart with their top draft pick, forward-guard Reggie Williams of Georgetown.
