It’s 95.7 loaves of San Francisco sourdough or 99 six-packs of Budweiser to the winner of a friendly little wager between KKHI-FM, a Bay Area rock station and KFUO-FM, a St. Louis classical station. Both cities’ baseball teams are battling it out for the National League pennant. KFUO deejay Bob Evans began the brouhaha over the dough by wagering with KKHI deejay Al Covaia over the series’ outcome: a six-pack of Bud if the Cardinals lost, a loaf of sourdough if the Giants succumbed. After station executives heard about the wager, it became a matter of airwave honor, and the bets escalated to represent the station’s FM frequencies.
